Grade 10 to 12 Students

Any Grade 10 to 12 student from any school in British Columbia is eligible to take one or more courses with Abbotsford Virtual School FREE of charge even while you are enrolled in a regular "bricks and mortar" school!

In 2006, the BC Ministry announced a new mandate for education in BC. The Ministry of Education, through the LearnNowBC site, has opened up new opportunities to students to take ANY COURSE – ANYWHERE – ANY TIME. This was done to close course and program gaps in the school system, as well as to provide a more flexible way for students to move ahead and achieve their education in ways that wasn’t possible before. For example, if a high school student in BC needs a course but for some reason can’t take it at their school, they can now take it at a Distributed Learning (DL) school such as Abbotsford Virtual School. It also means taking an extra course at another school is free of charge to the student. And, it makes it easier for counselors to find courses for their students, if the student can’t get it at their own school.

Abbotsford Virtual School offers some unique programs such as an Animation and Modeling program related to the construction of video games and ICT courses that lead to dual credit opportunities at UCFV. We offer Virtual courses (semester-based, teacher-paced courses operating like regular high school courses taught through the Internet) to paper-based and online self paced courses.
